FOREWORD

OK. I am here to submit a guide on one of my favourite weapons, the AK-47. The AK-47 is the weapon I use when It is not a CQC map (e.g: Kill House, Wetwork), or when it is not a long range map, or a map where I like to take control of a particular building.

Secondly, I prefer to use the Grenade Launcher as the attacment to the AK-47. A lot of you claim it is a n00b tube. Well it is not a n00b tube if used with skill. I completely agree with you that there are some n00bs out there that equip the grenade launcher as soon as they spawn, and that by all means is "n00bish". I myself are constantly annoyed by them when they plant a shell that blows you up, when they are facing your back, 10 meters away. Its like: "What the hell? You can easily shoot me in 2 seconds! What do you gain by blowing me up?"

I and a lot of people however, use the grenade launcher and are different. I personally only use the grenade launcher when:

1. They are taking cover near a red barrel or behind a car.
2. They are hinding in an enclosed area. e.g: That little dugout on vacant, outside near the freight containers, that spot where people respawn.
3. I see 2+ people having a knife fight.
4. I start reloading but see a guy starting to shoot at me. Hit left and quickly fire a nade at him.

And most of all: The AK-47 is the sexiest gun around with its view finder and in golden .

RANGE

As you can see, having RDs reduces the Ak-47's range. So go with my advice and don't use it.

SIGHTS

This will show pictures of the AK-47 when equipped with no attachments, the RDS, silencer, and ACOG. I could not find one of the AK-47 zoomed in when equipped with the grenade launcher. If you do find one please give me the link to it and in return I will give you karma.

No Attachments

The bullets go at the tip of the line, located within the half circle. These are some of the best iron sights in the game, and can be used very well.

Grenade Launcher

Red Dot Sight

The bullets will go at the red dot. Always an improvement, even to the best iron sights. Players tend not to use though, as it reduces range.

Silencer

Uses the iron sights. Players should not hesitate to use the silencer, as the iron sights are godly.

ACOG

The bullets go at the point of the "v". ACOG tends not to be used, as the gun can go a little crazy once you fire.

ATTACHMENTS

Naked: The AK-47 naked is very good. And by very I mean super awesome-fantastic-chocolate-coated-fudgey-super-mega-overdrive. You heard me. I think its the best option after the grenade launcher. If you want to find out why, read the other attachments.
You can have the AK-47 with no attchments from level 4, with no other pre-requisites.

Grenade Launcher: I believe I went over this.
You can have the AK-47 from level 4, with no other pre-requisites.

RDS: Due to a glitch in the game, having RDS actually reduces your range. The AK-47s iron sights are super awesome-fantastic-chocolate-coated-ah screw it. So if you can master the iron sights (which a n00b can) you may as well just use it with no attachments.
You can have RDS after killing 25 other players with the AK-47.

Silencer: Again this weakens your range, but lets you not be seen on the radar. It works for some people, not for me though. Combine with UAV jammer for maximum effect. use this over RDS as it has the same range.
The silencer can be gained after 75 kills.

ACOG: I'd only recommend this for HC, you can shoot long range, short range, and middle so its ok...but I'd rather a G36c with RDS.
The ACOG can be acheived after 150 kills.

But I personally HATE using a gun with no attachments, I feel it a waste. But all of the attachments do not work for me, so I went with the grenade launcher and never went back. Use whatever works for you though.

PISTOLS

In this section I will note which pistols go best with each general AK-47 class, NOT what are the best pistols are in general. Lets start.

>The M9. The M9 many of you will claim is weak and should not be used. I actually find the M9 as useful, as the only time I find myself in need of a pistol is when I plant bullets into the guy so he is next to the brink of death but then I run out of ammo, so I switch to my pistol to finish him off. The M9 is good for finishing them off as when they are on the brink of death they only need 1 bullet of any gun to take them down. Since the M9 has a high capacity you can spam with it, and odds are that one bullet will hit and finish them off.

The USP.45. Many of you like this pistol and for good reason, it has good power and a decent clip. I can only recomend this as a good all round pistol that goes well with the AK-47. Try silencing it if you have an AK-47with a silencer.

The M1911.45. Another good pistol similiar to the USP except it has a slightly higher power but lower clip. Can be compared to the USP, but I think they are balanced so if you want a good silenced weapon pick whatever one suits you.

Ahhhh...the Desert Eagle. This pistol has very high power but a very small clip. It has fantastic accuracy both hip wise and when zoomed in. A lot of people have this as a secondary to their SMG in hardcore as it can shoot far distances and be a 1 hit kill. It is also a 1 hit kill to the head in core modes. A pistol prefered to most, and also by me.

The Gold Desert Eagle. The only pistol to come in gold, and the AK-47 is the only assault rifle to come in a gold. A fitting combination if I may say. I do believe there are some miniscule differences between this and the normal Deagle, but as I recall it isn't game changing. I do not use it though, as when it is viewed in the shade, it just looks like rust. Also I presonally prefer the colour silver to gold, but use whatever looks best to you.

STOPPING POWER Vs. DOUBLE TAP

VS.

Alright, the Ak-47 works well with a number of perks. The most controversial I would say is which works better on the AK-47: Stopping Power or Double Tap? The AK-47 is very high powered, but has low RoF. This means that with Stopping Power, the bullets you are firing really need to hit. The minimum takedown is 2 bullets with ST, 3 against juggernaut. Double Tap gets rid of the above mentioned problem, by removing the low RoF. So with double tap, you have a high powered gun with a good RoF.

With double tap, the AK-47 takes down players quicker, and not all of the bullets count as much as the AK-47 with SP. So, logically, your best bet would be with double tap. Though all is not right with this wonderful, new gun. With double tap, your bullets tend to drain down a lot quicker. (nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, really?

I would have never thought...). You have to use bandolier to fix this problem, but this means you cannot have perhaps a perk 1 you find better. Fortunately, a lot of people have bandolier as their favourite perk. Unfortunately for me, I find the best perk for the Ak-47 the grenade launcher, which means no double tap Sad. I dont mind though, Stopping power is only slightly worse than double tap, and with a good aim you can take down a guy with 2 well placed shots, which feels super sexy Smiley.

PERKS

I'll go over all the possible perks, and give a rating out of 5, and the reason why.

1/5- Absolutely has no uses.
2/5- Very poor perk, only helpful in a couple of instances.
3/5- Ok, but there are better options.
4/5- Very good perk with only 1-2 drawbacks.
5/5- Near-perfect perk that is useful in every kill.

PERK 1

_______________________________________________________________________________________

3/5. Special Grenades x3. 3 specials are a decent perk for any class, but nothing special (contrary to the name.)
_______________________________________________________________________________________

4/5. Bomb Squad I believe this is underestimated, as you don't actually get a physical object that can be used to get more kills. This is not the best perk however for a basic slayer class, but if you are ghosting or like Search and Destroy, this is a great perk.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. C4 x2. C4s are not the best perk around. I find the only usefulness for them is so you can cover an object, but still run around to get kills. For example, under the bomb in Sabotage/Search and Destroy, on a dominattion map. but then again, your not really covering it, as they can still capture the flag/plant the bomb, your just getting the guy who captured/planted it.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

4/5. Claymore x2. Claymores have a number of uses, mainly used to cover your back. So these are fantastic if you want to take control over a building to rack up some kills. They can also be used as C4 in the above mentioned examples, but they are a little easier to see, but this time they can actually kill the player before they complete their objective.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

4/5. Primary Grenades x3. 3 frags can certainly be useful, you can use frags to get people camping or in hard to reach places. You can also use them to clear out entire buildings, for example where the bomb A is on countdown, you can wipe out everyone in it.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. RPG x2. These are alright, but there are far better perks. true you can take down a chopper, but thats not a kill, and you have LMGers on your tram whose job it is to take down a chopper.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

5/5. Bandolier. One of the best perks there is- bandolier. Fantastic for any occassion, if you tend to stay alive longer than most, this is for you. Although some claim you can simply pick up another weapon, I say good luck to you running around with the R700 that you found.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

5/5. Grenade Launcher. Again I went over this.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

PERK 2

5/5. Double Tap. Brilliant perk, combined with steady aim, treat it as the Ak-74u that does not have steady aim, because they'll pretty much be the same gun, except the Ak has a far larger range.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

5/5. Stopping Power. Extremely good perk, kills with 2 hits in core mode. Very ammo conservative.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

4/5. Juggernaut. It is called by many "juggern00b", but only because the people saying it are annoyed that they can't kill you as easily as they should be. Very helpful because you can survive a sniper bullet to the chest, which is where most snipers aim. The Ak is also very powerful and does not need stopping power as much as say, the m4.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. Overkill. This is mainly used on snipers who want a secondary weapon for close encounters. For a start the Ak should not be a first option for these snipers, as a SMG is more efficient. Pretty useless anywhere else, as the AK can cover all ranges.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

4/5. UAV Jammer. Very useful for ghosts and when used in combination with a silencer. As I said earlier, the AK is very powerful and is not in desperate need of stopping power.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. Sonicboom. Can be useful when used in conjunction with 3x frag or RPGs, but you fire your gun more than you throw a grenade so you are better off with a different perk.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. Sleight Of Hand. The AK-47 reloads fast enough as it is, even faster when you sprint at the right time to skip the animation. Can be helpful if you like to rush into enemy territory often.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

PERK 3

_______________________________________________________________________________________

4/5. Dead Silence. Another underrated perk. Even if you don't notice, we use sound to find the enmy or know if they are near us A LOT. With dead silence you can sprint without fear that the enmy will hear you. very useful for Search and Destroy.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

3/5. Deep Impact. A lot of you claim this is useful but honestly the AK has good enough penetration as is, and doesn't need it. it can be helpful in a few situations but I'd rather go for a different perk.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

5/5. Eavesdrop. Best perk ever. 'Nuff said.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

3/5. Extreme Conditioning. Can be useful if you like to kill a target then run like hell, but you sprint for long enough as it is. It can be used to chase targets who have run around a corner, and to sprint with the bomb in sabotage but thats about it.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

1/5. Iron Lungs. Useless unless used with overkill, or if you want to be prepared to kill a sniper and then pick up his rifle.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. Last Stand. If it does not help to get me kills while I am alive I do not want it. Can be used in Search and Destroy, where every second alive helps a lot, but thats it.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

2/5. Martydom. Pathetic perk that does not help to net you a kill while you are alive. So many people use it that players are smart enough to stay away from corpses. May work on the occassional noob.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

5/5. Steady Aim. Personally my favourite perk and i know it is others as well. Can be used to take down anyone at close range with no problems.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

GRENADES

Frag
Well unlike CoD:WaW, this is your only option for a primary grenade, but I do not care as I think it is the best anyway. Its best to cook it, or leave it uncooked for extreme ranges. you can also leave it uncooked as a delay tactic, by throwing it at an entrance. You get a 5 second head start at running away from your enemies.

I do believe it should otherwise be used under these instructions:

"First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Stun
Works well with the Ak-47, you can toss it to freeze the enemy and take them out. Works well to rack up headshots. Most players prefer this secondary.

Flash
I personally prefer this secondary because I often find players camping in a small, enclosed areas. if i had a stun, he would still be facing the place where I am about to show, and can still shoot me. With a flash however I can be sure that he can not see me.

Smoke
Smoke is only useful in onjective games, such as search and destroy where you can toss a smoke over the bomb to shield yourself from snipers as you are planting the bomb. You can also use it as a distraction, such as throwing it on bomb B while you go to bomb A.

CLASSES

Name: eGrenadier

Primary Weapon: AK-47
Attachment: Grenade Launcher

Pistol: Deagle
Attachment: -

Grenade: Stun

Perk 1: -
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Steady Aim

This is for full on frontal assault. It is good in all situations, and can rack you up a lot of kills. Steady Aim provides you CQC security, and the grenade launcher can help take out pesky campers. Fire 2 bursts into the back of some guy and watch him fall! I swear its the best feeling.

Name: eGhost

Primary Weapon: AK-47
Attachment: Silencer

Pistol: USP .45
Attachment: Silencer

Grenade: Smoke

Perk 1: Bomb Squad
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Dead Silence

This class is an excellent Ghost class which is easy to work your way up to the chopper fast. Kill off those pesky snipers and campers and your team mates will love you! And if you run into trouble, relocate with the help off some smoke.

Name: eSnipe

Primary Weapon: AK-47
Attachment: ACOG

Pistol: Deagle
Attachment: -

Grenade: Smoke

Perk 1: Clamores
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Steady Aim

I would recomend this class for HC only, and when zoomed in to the scope make sure that the first bullet to hit will be the only one needed, otherwise your screwed.

eKillStreak
Primary Weapon: AK-47
Attachment: None

Pistol: Deagle
Attachment: -

Grenade: Flash

Perk 1: Bandolier
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Steady Aim

Another awesome class that can get you high killstreaks. Can take out SMGers at close range thanks to a high-power, high-RoF, steady aim combo.

eMy-First-Ever-Class-That-I-Thought-Was-The-Best
Primary Weapon: AK-47
Attachment: RDS

Pistol: Deagle
Attachment: -

Grenade: Stun

Perk 1: Claymores
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Martydom

The first class that i thought was the best in the world. Ahh... i was such a n00b back then.

eHardcore S&D
Primary Weapon: AK-47
Attachment: None

Secondary: M21
Attachment: -

Grenade: Smoke

Perk 1: Claymores
Perk 2: Overkill
Perk 3: Dead Silence

This is a top S&D class, where you can do pretty much everything. The m21 in my opinion is the best HC sniper, and the AK can handle all other ranges that the M21 can't. Claymores for protecting you when sniping/planting on the bomb. Dead silence because you do not want the enemy to fing you as you do not respawn. Smoke incase you run into trouble or you have to plant the bomb.

TECHNIQUE

The AK-47 is a gun that can be used in all situations, but that does not make it a winning gun in every situation. (Assuming you are facing a player the same skill level as yourself) In CQC it will lose to a sub-machine gun 7/10. Long range it will lose to a sniper 8/10. Though against any assault rifle, when used correctly, it will 10/10.

The Ak-47 has high power, and a slow RoF. This is not neccessarily a bad thing, as it allows bullets to be more accurate, and makes the gun ammo conservative. We take this to our advantage when using it. Do not spam when zoomed in with this gun, you will miss horribly, but feel free to spam when firing from the hip, I recommend this only for CQC. Here are some tactics for the ranges:

Middle Range: Fire in small bursts. The Ak-47 kills with 2 bullets with stopping power equipped, so fire that many at a time. Fire 3 without stopping power. Also, if you are an expert, try to side step while firing, as it makes you a harder target to hit. This may be difficult over longer ranges, but anything you do to throw off your enemy helps.

Close Range: The AK-47 has decent hip fire accuracy, with or without steady aim. So in CQC, just spam them. Try to move around as well, do not just stand there like an idiot while your enemy jumps around you, pwning you with his p90. Steady aim is a very good perk for the Ak-47, so i would highly recommend that you have it, so the Ak becomes a beast at any range.

Long Range: Fire a single bullet, when the AK-47 returns to a normal state, fire again. Repeat. This can be done well, as the enemy will often just turn to find the danger, and when the see you as a tiny speck in the distance, they will attempt to return fire, but by then it will be too late for them, as you should have planted another bullet in him to take him down.

Cover: The AK-47 is asn amazing gun, but cover can turn a good player into a great player (as i learnt from the video below). It is true what he says, any bit of cover helps, even if it is just your feet. The less of your body that the enemy sees, the less they can hit, giving you a higher survival rating. I find that dumpsters and brick walls are the best. but use whatever is available. Beware of barrels though, as a deep-impacted RPD can penetrate them easily.

Crouch: Crouching is extremely useful when used correctly. When you crouch, you move as if you have dead silence. So when indoors, try to crouch. You will be amazed at the amount of kills you get, simply because the enmy cannot hear you. When a SMGer sprints down the stairs, not even he can take you out, as it takes time for him to pull out his weapon. Whereas if he heard you walking in, he would move cautiously, and most likely kill you 1-1.

Always crouch behind cover. Again, this is because snipers can line up headshots if even the tip of your head is poking out.

Prone: Going prone is a deadly manuvre. if you go prone in grass, you become impossible to see. you should use prone if you think the enemy may be on the otherside of your cover, but are not sure. Even if the enmy does see you, and starts shooting at you first, you are a very small target, and can often return fire for the kill. Lying down behind cover is a brilliant strategy and should be used often.

Also, you should always be prone when camping, or watching over an objective. A common strategy by me is when the bomb is planted in say: Search and Destroy, I always go prone at a place near the bomb, but out of sight from it, such as around a corner. This is becuase the enmy will assume you are making direct eye contact with the bomb at all times, and so only check those areas before defusing it. This is where you listen for them starting to defuse it. once you hear them start to defuse, wait 2 seconds. This is because a common strategy is to start defusing it, but then stop, incase the enemy hears them. As soon as they realize that noone came out to stop them, they will try to defuse it permanately. THIS is when we come out.

This strategy works great, especially when you find a grassy spot to do it in.

Reload: Many of you think that bothe the AK-47s clip and the GP-25 reloads slightly slower when compared to their respective counterparts. I beg to differ. The Ak-47s clip actually reloads faster if you know when to sprint to cut its reload time. Pretty much when you reload, as soon as you see all the white lines meaning bullets refill tot he maximum on the bottom of the screen, thats when you sprint. (BTW: I saw this good guide that had all the guns reload times adn what they actually reload in if you skip the animation, but I can't seem to find it anymore! Could someone please help?)

The GP-25 animation can also be cut, but its hard to tell when you should skip, as you do not have the bullets on your screen like before. I guess its just trial and eroor, but generally as soon as you place the grenade in the tube is when to sprint. So practice, and you should get in to time flat.

Fake Runaway: Also I learnt a fake runaway. For example, in wetworks: you're running across and about to run around a freight container. you see a guy shooting at you. some people would turn and try to shoot the guy. what you should do is keep running to your freight container like you didnt even see him. he will actually think that you didnt see him and come sprinting after you. now once you have turned into the freight container out of sight, turn around and go prone. Once he comes sprinting around the corner expecting to see you running off, he'll get a whole bunch of bullets in his face. Cheesy. I hope this makes sense, if you don't understand please just say and I'll include pictures.

MAPS

The Ak-47 can be used on every map, seeing as it is as assault rifle. But there are maps that the AK excels with. I most of the time play free-for-alls, so thats the only maps I can give examples for. I would give some for TDMs but I just don't play them enough to understand what people like to do.

Legend:

Ambush

This map is good as you can aim down the clearings, plus there a lot of cars you can blow up using your grenade launcher.

Showdown

If you are playing in free-for-all, stay on the outside of the map, in one the patches that are next to archway that leads to the center of the map. On each of those patches (there are four), there will be an object in the center. (like, a fruit stall or a clump of boxes.)

Now what you want to do is run around this object once, then look towards the center clearing with the archway. by the time you have run around your object, an enemy will have spawned. Take him out. Repeat. This works because the codin for respawns is that you have to be "X" amount of meters away from the enemy, and not looking at him. So running around the object is how you get them to respawn. Also don't forget players who are tired of you killing them so they go to the second story and shoot you from the catwalks. You can cover those by looking up at each from you routine of running around in a circle.

Bog

Just stay near the edge of the map, where bomb B would be on S&D. You will die often, but get a lot of kills. If you want o get you K/D up, stay at the other edge, and move between the buildings, taking out anyone in your path. Works best with the ekillStreak class. i marked both options with different shades of blue and gren so you do not get confused.

Countdown

Stay near the corner of the map, where you would start off with the bomb in S&D. Clear out the two tin shelters along the top, and then back to where you started. Works very well for me.

Bloc

Run thorigh building A or B repeatdly (depending on where you spawn), taking out any snipers or general players that you find on the way. be sure to look outside very time you reach the end of one building.

Vacant

Vacant has always had a special place in my heart as it was the map I got my first ever first place in Free-for-All. I think I'm going to put up my first ever class that i though was the best just for the heck of it. Anyway on topic You should stay near the freight containers, or if most of the action is inside, go inside aswell and look down the hallways from the places indicated on the map.

HEADSHOTS (By request of Choctop)

Alright what you have to understand is that contrary to what you might think, the Ak has no recoil. It has kick. Theres a difference. The difference is that the AK will always return to the point where you fired the previous bullet from. So to get shots all you need to do is to grab an Ak with Sp and fire to quick bullets at their head, while zoomed in on the sights. Not hard seeing as the Ak has the best iron sights and takes down quickly.

Alternatively go into hardcore team deathmatch or the newly opened hardcore headquaters and fire 1 shot at their head, Sp or no. Anyyyyyyyyyyyway thats your first step to get that golden AK! Now give me that goddam karma choctop. Tongue.

You will be on your way to this in no time:

I can't tell you how to play on TDM as I only play free-for-all, but this one does nicely.

https://www.youtube.com/v/gbQ3n79tv4E&rel=1

This player has the right skills, but try different perks than what he had. Bandolier would have suited him better due to his high kill streaks.

ENDWORD

Well that is it for my guide folks. Please keep in mind that the classes are not specific, please feel free to change stuff around to make it easier for YOU to use.

Also, this is my first guide, so please be kind!
