CoD4 Weapons: M21 Guide

Back to the Sniper Rifles page

The M21 is a sniper rifle that has been in use since the Vietnam War.  It is a Semi-Automatic sniper rifle, and it has the lowest recoil of a sniper rifle in the entire game.  Because it is semi-automatic, you can fire the rounds as fast as you want, and because it has the lowest recoil, they would not be around like the Dragunov.  The M21 is a modified version of the M14.  It has added range, and a smaller magazine than the standard M14.

The M21 has a longer barrel, and a bipod attached to the front of the gun.  The bipod cannot be used in the game, so that does nothing except give it a distinction besides the scope and longer barrel.  The M21 is not a very popular sniper rifle, as it lacks power, and people dislike it for that reason.  However, many people who use it believe that they need stopping power to get kills with it, or go into hardcore.  That is false.  Devil Dog on this site (xSecond2None) is very good with the M21, and can use it without stopping power, because due to it's low recoil you can fire multiple rounds into a target without the crosshairs moving to dramatically off the target.

OK, so, lets move on to perks.
Some good perks for this gun are:
Bandolier
Claymore
Stopping Power
UAV Jammer
Overkill
Iron Lungs
Dead Silence
The M21 has a distinct sound when fired.  It is slightly different than the M14, and it also has a rather large muzzle flash.  Here is the Chart for the M21:

M21
Damage - Moderate
Rate Of Fire - Varies From Shooter
Range - Long
Muzzle Flash - Moderate/High
Magazine Capacity- Low, 10 Rounds
Reload Time - 2.5 Seconds/3.1 Seconds DryCoD4 Weapons: Sniper Rifles M21

Now, which perks you pick is entirely up to you, so this is just some helpful advice.  The M21 is a more than efficient weapon, and it is very good for snipers who are going to move up secretly, and provide intel to the team.  If you have any questions or comments, I know you wont hesitate to reply.
