CoD4 Weapon M1014

Guide by: Captain Crunch - First: Your gun. Let's break down the weapons. For every advantage a weapon has we will give a score of +1. Disadvantages are minus 1.

W1200
Usually One hit kills. (+1)
Large Clip. (+1)
Pump Action. (-1)
Shorter Range. (-1)

Score: 0

M1014
Semi-Auto. (+1)
Longer Range (+1)
Very small clip (-1)

Score: 1

Some of you may say, you didn't include the disadvantage of not usually being a one hit kill. Well with the M1014, you can quickly fire off two shots so the disadvantage is so small, I don't think it deserves to be factored in. The M1014 is, the winner, but the W1200 is still good. It's your choice.

Second: Your perks.

Recomended Perk 1 Shotgun Perks:

Stuns/Flashes x3: This works well because either special nade allows you to get in your shotgun's range without him being able to effectively attack you. The advantage of flashes is that they completely block the person's ability to see you. The advantage of stuns is that They can't go anywhere; you know where they will be, However they will still be able to see you. I recommend stuns because, with a shotgun you need to be able yo get in the persons range. There have been countless times where I have flashed someone but when I turned the corner to get them, they had escaped. With a stun however this is impossible. Your decision though as always.

Frags x3:

Lot's of times when you are shotgunning, you are indoors because indoors there is a high chance of a close quarter encounter rather than a medium/long range. Anyways, when you are indoors lots of times you see people turn corners, without noticing you, or they run into a building that you are outside of without noticing you. Toss a frag, move on. Eventually if you are good at this, you can get lots of kills this way. (sorry I got slightly off topic with that actually).

Bandolier:

The jack of all trades, good for obvious reasons.

Grip: (M1014 only)

The grip reduces recoil so you can fire two quick shots at the person, accurately. I wouldn't use it on the w1200 because by the time you've chambered the next shell, you could have already moved the reticle back to its original position.

Perk Slot 2:

UAV Jammer:

Since shotguns are powerful, but limited to close range, the element of surprise is very important. UAV Jammer keeps that advantage with you at all times.

Sleight of Hand:

I only use for my M1014 because of it's small clip. For the 1200, there is a more useful perk that can be used.

Stopping Power:

I would recommend once again for the M101 because it makes a lot of those would-be two shot kill an OHKO. If you are one of those people who believe stopping power increases the range you can use it for the 1200 also to increase it's very short range.

Juggernoob *cough* I mean naught:

Highly recommended for the 1200, it gives you that little extra boost in health so you can get in it's range. Also good for the 1014, because, as it is a shotgun, it has very short range.

Perk slot 3:

Steady Aim:

This is the best perk 3 for either shotgun. Often when there are lots of enemies, you need to fire from the hip.

Martyrnoob *cough* I mean dom:

At CQC, you'll rack up the kills with this perk. Prepare for mass complaints about the unfairness, though.

Last Stand:

You may get a few kills this way, it's good because shotguns are CQC and this perk only works up close.

Special Grenade(s):

Flashes: See under perk slot one, special grenades x3 for info.

Stuns: Look in the same place.

Smoke (cannot be used with Special Nades x3): When you need to run across large open areas with a Shotgun, a smoke is your nade. However, most of the time if you need to use a smoke to get around, the map is probably to large for shotgunning. (With the exception of a few maps such as Crossfire and similarly played maps.)

The Technique:

There are five situations you will encounter:

1. One sniper/camper that doesn't see you. (as in, you are behind him)

Look down the sights, take your time, and aim at the head.

2. Multiple people who are sniping/camping and don't see you.

Kill the first one by looking down the sights and aiming for the head, kill the rest by shooting from the hip.

3.  Multiple people who aren't camping who do or don't see you.

Shoot from the hip, there are to many people moving to fast to fire down the sights.

4. On person who does/ does not see you and is not camping.

 The same as above.

5. One/ Multiple people who see you at the same time as you see them.

This usually happen in buildings and either you or an enemy turns a corner and you see him/ he sees you. The trick (this only works on Xbox and PS3) is to keep walking towards them press the aim button and then immediately shoot after you press it. The autoaim (only on consoles) should do most of the work for you. If there are more people, kill the from the hip.

Extra Tips and Facts

1. Since these shotguns are loaded with each shell one by one, you can end the reload animation early by pressing the shoot button. This helps when an enemy comes around a corner while you are reloading.

2. Use special grenades/ frags liberally.

3. Try to be somewhat stealthy with the shotgun, so you can get close without people noticing.

4. Stay inside  Tongue

5. If someone doesn't see you always go for the headshot, not the knife kill; headshot are rare for the shottys.

Final Note and Dedication:

One final note: Alot of you were probably saying "duuuuuh" thats obvious for a lot of the things I wrote. I wrote this guide so anyone could use it, even those new to the game.

I dedicate this guide to the C4C's forum member Demon APX, because all the great and helpful guides he has given us, one of which gave me the inspiration to write this one.  Cry
