Alot of threads on this forum say Cod5, but its Call of Duty: World at War. It doesn't have 5 at the title, and if all the call of duty games had a number Cod4 would be Cod6 (Finest Hour and Big Red One would be there own game also if it was the case) Most Likely Cod5 will still be modern war as infinity ward wants to just put out another Call of Duty this holiday season, Cod5 won't be released this season as it is most likely in development as they want to be it much better than cod4. So people stop saying World at War is Call of Duty 5, its not. Infinity Ward just wants to make profit this holiday season.

Flaw here = Infinity Ward aren't making it. They won't earn a dime from this, only Activision and Treyarch will. |

I'd like to point out that most games use numbers outlining the different engines being used.
For example; there was GTAIII, then the two subsequent games that used the same engine, Vice City and San Andreas weren't numbered. GTAIV was obviously running on a new, next-gen engine, and is again numbered.
It wouldn't surprise me if COD:WaW is never officially referred to as CoD5, as it runs on the CoD4 engine. If IW create a new engine for their next game, that will probably be called CoD5.
