rite now im using:

windows def
avg
spybot

what fire wall, anti spyware mal ware adware etc should i get?

ZoneAlarm for your free firewall.  If you don't like that one - Comodo's current free version has gotten very good reviews.  however I have used ZA fora long time and it has always been (IMO) the best.  Since Checkpoint bought ZoneLabs (makero f ZoneAlarm) the firewall is even better.   http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Firewall-Windows-2000-XP-/3000-10435_4-10039884.html

AVG and SpyBot are already good choices but ADD Lavasoft AdAware spyware detector.  The two spware detectors each miss things that the other picks up so having them both is a good idea.  http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

I use: AVG + Spybot S&D (along with TeaTimer) + Adaware

That's not forgetting Noscript, Adblock Plus and Flashblock for my Firefox.

...but yeah, the Spybot S&D + Adaware combo is a must, I've used them longer than anything else and they work brilliantly.
