i'm not good enough as it is, so to start over with no weapons or perks just seems like a waste. I won't get any better by constantly being at a disadvantage.
Yes you will trust me, it seems impossible at first but really it isn't.

Exactly.  Each time that you prestige, your skills are going up, whether you notice it or not.  The first two times through, I was using the same 2 guns (M4 & SAW).  Now, I mix it up a lot more.  I did not even realize how good the MP5 was until I started using it my third time through.  Now, I use about half of the guns at some point during a prestige and work on the marksman challenges.  I think that my game is much improved.

i agree with you 100%, you learn how to use each gun.

Also, the only time i might feel like i am at disadvantage is when i just prestiged and i am level 1-4 or 3 when you start to create your own classes, all you need is mp5 with stopping power on and you can own.  Seriously, going from 1-25 takes maybe 2 - 3 hours, depending what you are playing.

I also like the satisfaction of levelling up a lot in the beginning.
And I can't resist that there is something more I can do. Yes, I can get golden guns, but if I have them, I can't go prestige (without loosing the gg's). The other way around however.

I don't do it to show how good I am, cause really, I suck. I am rambo with bunny slippers, but I enjoy playing Cool

I just don't see the point in Prestiging. You reset all your weapons/perks/challenges, but for what? A Shiny Badge? I can play just as much and get better just as much as a 10th prestige, staying at only 55.

Sure you can say "You get better because you play more.", but in reality, most non-prestigers play just as much as prestigers, and get just as good.

If there was more to prestiging than simply bragging rights, it might be another story. Personally, I have nothing against prestigers, but also think its just a big waste of time and that you can spend your time learning different things such as experimenting with different perk combos, weapon combos, or overall, being the top player in a match that has mostly prestigers Smiley

Going prestige forces you to use different weapons and with lesser perks and attachments.  Sure, Camping At 55 allows you to use that red tiger (insert your favorite weapon name here) with (insert your favorite attachment, perk 1, perk 2 & perk 3 here) forever, which may help you boost your K/D ratio, which is nice, but is not necessarily going to help you out as much long term as going prestige will. By using different weapons and the lesser attachments and perks, you are gaining skills.  The skills you are gaining when playing with lesser equipment and perks will stay with you forever.

In addition, when you go prestige, your XP is counting for something.  All of the numbers that are popping up on my screen are counting for me, how about yours?  If you Camp At 55, you can just keep using the same weapon all the time if you want, but what is it really gaining for you?

As a comparison, the New York Yankees have the highest payroll (over 208 million dollars) in all of MLB.  Having the highest payroll should equate to having the best talent.  Having the best talent, or at least the highest paid talent, has not gotten the Yankees a World Series win since the year 2000.  The teams that have won the World Series, simply outperformed the highest paid team in MLB.

All of you guys that are Camping At 55 are like the Yankees.  You may have all of the weapons, attachments and perks unlocked, maybe even all of the gold weapons, but you will still be beaten by somebody that is able to do more with less, like MLB has been showing since the year 2000.

Once the person who is going prestige has done it 10 times, they should be pretty damn good at using most of the weapons.

The thing is, why can't a 55 non-prestiger experiment and use different weapons also? I've used all the different weapons quite alot, but I still stick to my favorites. Not because I care about my ranks, but because they're just the weapons I like.

If I prestiged, I'd just do the same thing: I'd stick with the MP5 until I unlocked the Sniper Rifles, then Snipe Until I unlocked the Create a Class, then use the AK until I unlocked the G36C, and use that until I get the P90, and then finish out the prestige with it.

Sure, I may experiment in-between, but in the end, unless they introduce an "x weapon-set only" playlist, its not really gonna matter because everyone will still use the weapons they prefer.

To that end, the only weapons I really don't like, are the LMGs, and thats simply because I see too many people just use them for Spray and Pray tactics. Like Stealth and Strategy, so most of my kills, when I'm not sniping, are close up and personal.

In any event, "experiemnting with different weapons/perks" isn't enough of a reason to give everything up, because I can, and do, that anyway.

Sure, a person that has not gone prestige has the ability to experiment with different weapons and class setups, but the fact remains that they have a full arsenal at their disposal.  A player that has gone prestige has to learn to play without their favorites, which in the end, will make them a better all-around player.

Take for instance, a sniper, who does not unlock claymores until rank 23.  How do they cope with it.  For one, they probably check behind them a little more often and are generally more careful about what is going on beside and behind them.  Another thing that has happened is the use of mobile sniping as an option.  Mobile sniping probably was started because of the lack of ability for covering their back, in addition to the "I can't stay still, it is boring" argument.

What about all of those people that are without 3x frag and playing on Wet Work?  They have to find another way to kill.  Everyone knows that on Wet Work, there are frags flying pretty much the whole entire match.

What if you are a beast with silenced weapons or ACOGs?  You have to learn to fight without them if you go prestige, because you need 75, 100 or 150 kills with a weapon to unlock them.  You even need 25 kills to unlock RDS.  Playing with iron sights on all of your weapons does have it's benefits, but if you use a weapon with bad iron sights, you can't wait to unlock the RDS.

Sure, there are some pretty good weapons and perks available when you go prestige (MP5, M16, Stopping Power, Steady Aim, etc.) and there are more that are available pretty early on (M40, create-a-class, etc.), but to repeatedly start over with virtually nothing helps you out more in the long term.

There are a lot more long term benefits for going prestige, the most of which, is to learn to do more with less.

Except that you learn that the first time around. Most of my early playing time in CoD4 was spent expirementing on different weapon sets, trying to find the best sets the suit my style. Even playing on my Dad and Cousins accounts, where they use the different set-ups that I'm not use to, I still do really good.

Maybe I'm a unique situation, cause gaming comes easy to me. I can pick up a game and, within an hour, get a really good feel for it to the point where I can take on most casual gamers who have played longer. Only being 19, I've got 16 years of Gaming Experience behind me. I know that doesn't mean much to most people, but its really made doing things such as Learning new tactics, come as second nature to me, and is something I pick up on really easily.

Back when I first started Sniping, I didn't have claymores, but I did have C4. I'd improvise with that. I'd listen for Foot-steps, and if I heard em, blow the C4 and get kills 7/10 times. I never have been much of a Mobile Sniper, so I've always trained myself to be very aware of my surroundings in any game like this.

I mean, i get what your saying, when someone is FORCED to use different tactics, compared to someone who can go back and forth at will, the person who is forced might be more inclined to learn and remember those tactics.

So like I said, maybe I'm a little unique in this, but I've always found it very easy to adapt and learn new tactics, with any weapons I use. So I mean, sure, prestiging offers you the opportunity, but how many people REALLY prestige just so they can learn new tactics? Most do it because they're bored and want their XP to go somewhere, or want a goal to aim towards. I don't think theres many who actually prestige simply to learn new tactics. It might be a benefit, but its a small one, and one that can be done without prestiging.

when i play games i like to get to the highest lvl just because its the highest lvl. I dont like the fact that i could do more. So thats why i do prestige. And if i see someone with a golden Ak at 10th prestige and someone with a golden ak at 1 prestige then the Gold cross is going to get alot more respect from me.

Everyone should do what makes them happy. You play the game to have fun. For me, fun is a goal in the future, getting that golden cross ofter a few months of hard work, for others, it's owning the game with their weapon of choice. Everyone wants to have fun.

That's also why I don't get the whiners in the game, shut up and enjoy Smiley, stop shouting in the mic.

I've never played a 55 no prestige that actually challenged me. I think it's impossible to actually get better at the game if you don't prestige.

again, i agree that prestige, in general, will make you better.  There are exeptions, but in general it will make a player better.

it is also nice to be able to pick up any gun on the filed from the dead guy and still be able to own after u run out of ammo...
