OK, I've searched the forums, the stores and the web, and I'm just not finding what I want and what many might also like to have.  I want a quality headset with stereo speakers that allow me to hear all game audio, a microphone that has good sound and preferably a noise canceling function, and yes, it all needs to be wireless.

I can find Bluetooth headsets, but bluetooth headsets don't recieve stereo audio and microphone output at the same time.  I can find USB headsets that sound pretty good, have a good mic, but I've been unable to get game audio via USB, only player chat.  There are of course wireless headphones with great stereo audio that I can hook up to my stereo receiver, but not with wireless or bluetooth mic.

Am I missing something out there?  Is there somebody that has a solution for those of us that want a quality wireless headset with microphone, stereo audio and have it all work seamlessly with the PS3.

Help!

A headset that does all of this is pretty hard to come by...

That being said, I've heard that these: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/internet_headsets_phones/devices/4226&cl=US,EN#  work with the PS3. I'm adding them to my Amazon wishlist right now!

Yea... bought a pair of these yesterday and tried them last night.  Very nice sound and features.  The mic stem seems sturdy and will automatically mute when you swing it up out of the way and back on when you bring it back down to the face.  The earpads are a bit small but comfortable, and the power and volume controls are easy to use.  The unit comes with a charger and a USB transmitter so the headphones are wireless and it was easy to set-up with the PS3.

OK, the bad news.  You only get voice output and input via USB.  You don't get the game sound.  So, if you wanted to play with these you need to have the sound cranked to hear the game over the headphones.  The voices come in clear on the headset, but again, no game audio at all.  This is obviously not going to work

They go back to the store tonight... $100.00, and no game audio.

Maybe I've set up the game wrong?  Is there a way to get game audio to output via USB same a the microphone input/output?

Weird, I definitely read that they do in-game audio... looks like they're coming off the wishlist...

If you have the TV volume too loud when using a mic, you will get feedback from the tv and it will also piss off your teammates.

Why don't you wear headphones and the bluetooth headset.  You can have one half of the headphones (which are plugged into the tv by the way) covering one ear and have your bluetooth headset in the other ear.  That way, you get both in game audio from the tv, as well as the stuff that comes through your mic.

If you do this, you won't have true stereo.  The ability to hear which side someone is walking up or the direction of any noise... is important.

The idea of wearing a headset and turning up the TV has of course the problem mentioned above about feedback and I'm also wanting something that allows me to not disturb everyone else in the house.  Sometimes the only time I can play is late at night.

I have been using the bluetooth headset clipped to my shirt like a lavaliere microphone and a set of noise canceling stereo headphones connected to my stereo A/V receiver.  This of course works, but isn't the most elegant and comfortable solution.  I guess I'll have to design my own system... Wireless stereo headphones with built in bluetooth microphone.  Anyone want to buy a pair?

Probably end up doing something similar, but wanted to confirm through the forum that I'm not missing something out on the market, or that I'm doing something wrong in my PS3 set-up.  I think I've got it right.

How about posting some pics of what you made?

Still not the right solution as bluetooth protocols do not allow stereo audio at the same time you use the "talk" feature.  It's one or the other.  I thought people might like this info however, so read on.  Sounds pretty cool.

Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset Announced
Sony to release official Bluetooth headset with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation.
By GameSpy Staff | Sept. 3, 2008

Sony Computer Entertainment of America today announced that an official Bluetooth headset is set for release in a bundle with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation for a total retail price of $59.99. The headset will later be available separately from SOCOM for $49.99. Sony also announced that a special PS3 system software update is slated for this fall that will enable special features unavailable to competing Bluetooth headsets... a smart move considering the wealth of compatible Bluetooth headsets already on the market.

One publicized special feature is the High-Quality (HQ) mode, designed to improve communication between the headset and the PS3 for superior sound quality and clarity.

A press release received this afternoon from SCEA also included the following features:

    - High-Quality (HQ) mode: This delivers high quality online voice chat and high bandwidth voice recording and playback, which is currently not available with any other Bluetooth Headset. For future PS3 games, HQ Mode also can enable or enhance advanced in-game features:

    - Voice command (the ability to direct AI characters using voice)

    - Voice animation (your in-game character mimics you during voice chat)

    - Proximity chat (high quality voice playback in full surround sound to match all of the sound effects and voiceovers in the game)

    - When docked in the supplied charging cradle, the Headset works as a desktop microphone while charging

    - Automatic pairing of the Headset with PS3 system via a USB cable

    - Exclusive PS3 on-screen indicator displays connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status at a push of a button

This one could be worn with another set of headphones and or be easily zip tied or hotglued to your other headphones.  Has 8 hour battery!!  Currently on sale in the printed catalog for $38.95... ( use keycode P8041825)
http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/SearchDetail.asp?productID=16002

I have the Motorola H300, which is just like this, great if you hate to charge things because it runs on AAA batteries!  You can even use rechargable AAAs!  Talk time is only limited by the number of batteries you have...  Ebay has H300 for $15...
http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/SearchDetail.asp?productID=16000&curpage=1

I found out that you cannot set your input device to bluetooth and your output to USB headset like I was hoping...  At least I can use the USB set as a chat mute by enabling it then not using it.  I modded it so the headset unplugs from the USB converter box as well.
