Why not just use fixed classes in the tournament? That way it's all skill and nobody has an advantage based on what perks they chose. It might be a bit extreme, but let's be honest, the perks aren't balanced *that* well.

Stopping power is not cheap kills. IT DOMINATES.

It's basically the same thing as Juggernaut, except for it raising HEALTH instead of damage.

Complaining about it is sign of weakness, like saying "WHAA WHAA WHAA I CAN'T KILL THAT GUY THAT'S USING JUGGERNAUT BECAUSE I CAN'T AIM FOR SHIT!!!!! Cry"

Dear noobs: Please drop your M16's and stop using Martyrdom. If you continue to be such noobs, then please, do us all a favor, and go trade your CoD4 disk to Gamestop.
Sincerely, your good friend, Cattpride.

MP5/P90/AK47u are more than a match for M16 in CQC.  I'll take fancy footwork and ana fully automatic AR over M16 any day of the week, unless I want to ACOG an AR on a large map.

If you remove juggernaut, stopping power becomes unbalanced.

You are letting your own personal bias remove the balance of gameplay that IW created, and that makes the game so good.

As far as removing martyrdom - the only people that perk kills (aside from very occasional tight quarters) are inexperienced and unskilled players.  If people want to throw away extreme conditioning or steady aim on martyrdom, they should be free to do so.

"Newbs" play with the M16, because its one of the first weapons they are used to.  The limit of burst firing is what balances the weapon - unless of course you are cheating with a modded controller.

Boy what you talking bout? Modding isn't cheating. It's exploiting the game, which is in a sense cheating, but not really.  Grin

On one hand the developers were just asking for it to happen, but on the other hand I still don't like it. It's much the same as maphacking in Roundhouse. The difference being that, if there was some way for MS to find out about the controller thing, they'd probably count it as a hardware modification and ban you.

As for the actual topic at hand, the M16 being good  in close quarters is mostly luck that you'll hit with that first burst. Pretty much anything else can kill you before that second burst. It's damn good at range, though.

The game was balanced around team vs. team, hence why the game mode menu defaults to team deathmatch.

Still, I'm not sure what to make of this. In a 1 vs 1 setting, I'd be more afraid of the bullets than the noob tube; both are a 1-hit kill, but the bullets are far more accurate. 'd leave it in, as it's fairly well balanced against the M4, and that's not being taken out.

good point manifest
