Red Dot vs. Silencer - The Showdown

Now if anyone has already maybe started this then mod's be my guest and delete this but I have yet to see it.

Onto the showdown. I'm just going to assume that most people know to use different perks/weapons on the map that is being played and if you don't you should start. Now for some reason on most maps I find that a red dot w/o a silencer is much better than using a silenced weapon. Even though you show up on the mini, I still manage to hold my own. I'm just trying to get some convo going about this. Post it up fellas. I want to know what you guys think of it.

But I'll respond to the topic. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Naturally silencers hide you from being seen on the map. Ignoring that, silencers DO reduce recoil. I use a silencer on my AK w/double tap. W/out a silencer the recoil is insane while using full auto, and naturally you just can't hold down the trigger and hope to hit anything further than close quarter. BUT, if you attach a silencer, I find that at even medium and long ranger, even with double tap that baby sticks on it's target. And with the AK's iron sights being some of the best in the game, it's quite devestating.

So, it just depends on what weapons you choose to compare. The M4 can still be really accurate at medium to long range with a RDS because it doesn't have as much kick as the AK.

Well considering it's a topic that both PS3 users and Xbox 360 users can relate to, I feel this topic would probably feel more at home in the general discussion.

Although it's understandable if you want to get feedback only from the players who play on the same system as yourself, I suppose.

Regardless, I believe I answered a topic not the same but quite similar to this just 5 minutes ago. Which suggest that this topic's subject is somewhat overused, however I'll quickly summarize my opinion.

RDS offers slight zoom, which gives you an advantage over most iron sighted users, regardless if they use the weapon silenced, or 'naked'. Personally I see little point in packing a silencer on you're primary weapon if you aren't making good use of a UAV jammer. Infact it can be relativly useful to quickly 'fake out' enemies without having to switch to you're unsilenced sidearm (or atleast, in my case my sidearm is always unsilenced)

What I really hate is the players who use UAV jammer and RDS. Because basically they have no intention of surviving indefinitely. There only goal is to run out and constantly flank the enemy and when the find a target they tend to fire off unsilenced rounds in enemy territory... which is unbelievably foolish. I've noticed a lot of players adopting this play style lately and it truly frustrates me.

For stealth purposes and stealth purposes only, by all means opt for the silencer, but I wouldn't do so otherwise.

It's all context. Somebody who knows how to use both, is better than somebody who is unskilled in either.

Besides, RDS and Silencers don't just float in the ether, like Pinky the ghost. There's weapons and perks that make either work. And you need to have the right game type and map.

it's like asserting an R700 is better than a Skorpion - you need context.

The red dot isnt better then the silencer.... Neither is the silencer better then the red dot. IT'S PERSONAL PREFERENCE!
