I have played WoW since the first day it came out, and although what you say is somewhat true, I still think its fun.

Yes, people in WoW strive to get better gear and items, but what game doesn't do that anymore? I mean even COD has a "level up" system that you acquire new and better weapons and items to play within the game. I think it just depends on the mindset you use when you play said games.

I don't play WoW 18 hours a day and have 10 level 80 characters with all epic gear. I play when I can and I enjoy it alot because I play with my RL friends as well as online friends. Getting new gear is really exhilarating, I dont know how and why, but for me it is anyways. PvP also comes into play. Actually fighting against other people in the game is alot of fun.

Every video game ever made is pointless, in a sense. We dont gain anything from them, they dont give us anything but entertainment and a way to chill out. Thats why I play them anyways. I don't play them to be the super 1337 hax0r master gamer, I just play for fun.

A respectable disagreement. To me, stuff like PvP is fun but only for a little while. Then you go back to striving for another item. Regardless, +K...how don't you have more?

Lol I dont know, people dont like me I guess. But as for PvP, it has changed so much in WoW that it is a TON of fun if you play with people you know and can talk to on vent. Arena is particularly challenging, especially in 5v5.  Tongue

They need to make MMORPGs more tactical. Instead of the highest level always winning, they should make it where strategy and tactics determine if your good or not.

They shouldn't make it all about leveling up either or obtaining items..

I'm sort of getting excited about Star Trek Online, as it seems to be different from regular MMORPGs

check it out: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/startrekonline/index.html?tag=result;title;1

There is also a new Star Wars MMO made by Bioware, that is more story driven.  I love Bioware games, so I hope this one will be good as well.

That's actually a really cool idea. +K for that. In fact I'll have to check out that star wars game now, along with the star trek one, thanks.

that is a simply an Iignorant and rtard way of thinking
Because:

Every fps is same:
-You see a gun at right bottom side
-r is for reload
-mouse 1 is for shoot
-you have your ammo bar at right side(usually)
-you have your health bar at your left(usually)

Every TPS is the same:
-everything above but you see someone in middle of the screen rather than a gun at right bottom

Every Rpg is the same:
Everything is same as the TPS but you can choose the sentences you may speak when in a cinematic or converstation and you have an inventory bag

Every RTS is the same:
-You start with a worker and build main hall, than you create more workers and send them to mine
-Then you build blacksmith, armory and stuff then you figt and stuff, if ythe game goes on you can change the age
-By holding mouse botton 1 and sliding the mouse you choose the units you want to command

Every TBS(turn based strategy):
-Everything above but you have right to choose 1 command before your enemy does another 1

Every game is the same:
-You kill someonewith weapons according the era the game takes place
-There is a bad guy until the middle opf the story, at middle of the story you kill the bad guy and you learn that "there is someone behind all these things" and at the %99 of the storyline they give the right to choose "you choose the good side and the peace and harmony will take over the world" "youc hoose the bad side and chaos rules the world" and stuuf

EVERY FUCKIN SHIT IS SAME
when you want to consider that way

Every thing is the same, that is why they are classified as FPS,MMORPGS,or anything else.

I see myself on the same page.

I played runescape for about a year.  It was fun: I talked with my friends, did quests, killed monsters, the whole thing.  But then, I had nothing to do.  I liked the game but I didn't want to pay for the membership.  Sure it was only $5, but I would just get that same feeling at the end of it.  All in all, its never worth the money you waste.  Anyways, that's my Live money  Smiley

Although you have fun for a while, you only get that feeling of emptyness at the end of it.  You don't get that needed rush that games need to keep you hooked.  Unlike the rush of Huntin' people down and KILLIN' 'EM!  Wise words from FPS Doug.

Bioware's making one?  Damn, I didn't want this to happen.  KOTOR is, was, and always should be the semi-turnbased Single Player RPG its been.  I enjoyed the series this way and honestly, I don't want millions of Revans running around stealing my thunder.  I'm supposted to end the unknown sith threat, not all the rest of you...   Undecided

It's not your regular MMO.  The character you create has his own story, and you play to further the story.  Like KOTR, there is also the choice of choosing Light or Dark side, being a Jedi, pilot, solider etc...  The game is about story, not leveling up to inflict uber pwnage on people.

I went to the site and it looks pretty good, I hope I don't have to grind away constantly though.  From the looks of it, HK-47 is gonna be in the game too  Smiley

Yeah, there should be a variety of types of characters you can choose.

Check the star trek one out too, I think there going in the right direction.
