My Thoughs on Gears Of War 2 Campaign

Well I picked up gears 2 last night and played it alot today and last night. So here are my opinions on it.

Campaign:

Story - The story is gears 2 picks up after gears 1, it goes with marcus and dom trying to take out the rest of the locus, by going on an assault, deep into the locus stronghold. It also has a side story of Dom searching for maria. The story line has many EPIC! And I mean EPIC! events, you will go OMFG WTF JUST HAPPENED at each cutscene.  This storyline is very emotional and gripping. However the timeline could of been better. You get a deep sense of character. I remember crying when I first saw cole coming in kicking ass, its that deep. You really cheer for the characters 10 minutes into gears 2. The Ending of Gears 2 Though is where the problem lies. You will be disappointed after seeing the ending, Due to me not wanting to spoil it for u guys I won't tell you. 9/10.

Gameplay - The basic concept of gears 1 is applied in gears 2, since it is a good formula of course. By pressing the A button you slap onto cover and with A you can perform a variety of moves. You can also blindfire and take aimed shots while leaning out. This creates some realism in the gameplay. The cover system works well but there are issues sometimes since so many actions are controlled by the A button, but it doesn't affect you much. You also have 3 vehicle sequences, only 1 is fun due to bad controls, simple enough, they're just not fun. Boss fights are also fairly easy and is just a matter of timing and repetition, but most boss fights in any game are. 9.3/10

Weapons - Gears 2 Has all the basic guns you'd expect, the machine guns, the shotguns, the sniper, etc. You also have new weapons such as the flamethrower, a Machine Pistol, and a shield. These weapons all work really well and play fun. But however it is a sci-fi game and the most sci-fi we get is the chainsaw bayonet and the Hammer of Dawn (Rain hell anyone?). They also introduced 2 new heavy weapons, where you must be still to use, to compensate their power. These guns are fun to use and are balanced due to the speed reduction.  All the guns have a good feel though, except some of the pistols are rather strong. There is also a reload system where you can perform it quickly by timing the reload on a bar with a line moving across it, this is a good attention to detail.  8/10

Enemies - Ahh, the core of the Single Player. The enemies of gears of war 2 is only bigger! You have the standard soilder, each with different variants, such as snipers, grenadiers, etc. Each with their own skin, this is a nice attention to detail as their armor compliments how they act in game. There are also specialty enemies such as scorchers, which pack flamethowers and have gas on their backs. You are able to blow up the gas packs, again, showing a detailed touch. However, alot of enemies are CQ Based and rather annoying. An Example of this is being attacked by tickers (Exploding crawlers)  and these High HP shield weilding mace swingers. You need to take out the tickers so they don't blow you up, but at the same time the shield weilding enemies are charging at you. So you try to take them out, but they put up their shield, so your bullets are ineffective, so it can be frustrating at CQC since you are always gonna fight in CQC each level. 7/10.

Overall 9/10 - The Single player is gripping and leaves more than enough challenge for all you veterans, not to mention you can go with a buddy and play co-op.

I haven't played MP Alot so I can't really tell u about it.
