╬As you all know, Resistance 2 is just around the corner. IGN had a hands-on on the nearly finished build on the game on the single player, co-op, and the 60-player battles online, and noted what they have experienced during their hands-on.
PS. I am going to leave out the single player so it's not to spoil anyone.
PSS. The article didn't say much about the multiplayerCo-op~
Resistance 2 will feature 8 person online Co-op. It will have the same exact scale and monsters as the Single Player Campaign. Also the size of the encounters on co-op is dependent on the number of players in the co-op game. For example~If you have one or two players with you, you would most likely face individuals or chimera in small groups. On the other hand, if there are 8 pleyers in the game, there would be up to 100 enemies swarming you. The types of chimera will also be diversified to make it more challenging.
The story in Co-op mode will parallel the storyline in the Single-Player Campaign. You play as a part of a squad of Sentinels, seperate from the Compaign. You will be dispatched behind chimeran lines and are given objectives to locate and steal enemy equipment known as Grey Tech. "Finding these items within the game will change as you move through each location, performing tasks like powering down Chimeran spires and machines before you move toward your eventual "end zone" with your final objective." Also, the paths you be playing through will be constantly randomized so stages didn't look same every time you play. The story on Co-op will also branch into many different directions.
Three classes are also available during Co-op, each with their own special abilities. They're the Soldiers, the Medics, and the Spec Ops. The Soldiers have more health than the other two and can deploy shields. The Medic are the supporters. They have a weapon that can steal health from the enemies and use it to heal your squad. They also can revive fallen soldiers faster that anyone else. Spec Ops have the most power out of the three. They can deal more damage and can replenish your squad's ammo.
Experience points are also incorporated in Co-op. They will level up your soldiers, unlock weapons and gear, and power Berserks, which are skills that strengthens and enhances your soldier's abilities. Ribbins and Medals collected in Co-op will also carry over other modes aswell, such as unlocking a new weapon in Single-Player or make your multiplayer soldiers stronger.
Multiplayer~
Resistance 2 multiplayer will have 60 players and can be split up into 5 or 6 man squads. Multiplayer will also have over 70 maps for you to play through. Each squad will have different objectives and will vary and change depending on what's going on the battlefield. Multiplayer will also have Berserks like in Co-op mode.
