Does it vary between weapons? I've assumed no but figured I'd ask anyway.

Are you talking about the Rifle mounted Granade Launcher?

I think some take longer to reload but they fire at the same speed.

How do you not know what he means Undecided- he means do the bullets from different guns travel at different speeds. I think? But yeah I think it is specific to classes, I know for sure that shotgun shells travel slower than.. everything, but I'm not sure about other guns. It matters mostly on distance though.

Yeah I was referring to cartridge velocity and whether it varied between weapons.

I'd really like to know for sure. Considering if it say, varied between sniper rifles the lead required for my kills would be different... so I'd be better off sticking with just one sniper, constantly and becoming more proficient with it.

You're right about the shotguns though, the rounds do at least seem to travel slower than others...
but shotgun shells are completely different to rounds fired by other weapons so I guess thats why

And, I was thinking a nice idea for a slot 2 perk on future COD games would be a perk which increased projectile velocity, so say if one was a sniper it'd be easier to take down targets before they got into cover... and general sniping would be easier too.

Anyway like I said, just curious.

9mm parabellum and 12 guage 00 buck have about the same initial velocity IRL.

I've never had to lead targets when sniping... maybe it's your lag?

With 18mb broadband and a perfect connection displayed on CoD4 it's unlikely. it's my lag. Although not that I don't lag occasionally due to a bad host... but yeah, in majority my connection is perfect.

Sniping on moving targets requires some lead at longer ranges on CoD4 and I don't believe this is debatable.

Sometimes when I lag it seems like my bullets travel really slowly (but the enemies' bullets don't :/ ). It's really just a delay between my pulling the trigger and the host machine recognizing that - it can still recognize my movements fine, so that's weird, but I digress. Most bullets are nearly instantaneous, I doubt there's much of any flight time. In fact, I'd be pretty pissed if anything but maybe snipers had flight time, since it requires a lot more bandwidth to do so for negligible gain. COD4 isn't that realistic, after all.

I'm guessing lag because when I played the original COD versus my friend when we were both on dial-up, we'd snipe each other on Hurtgen.  When I read the OP i immediately remembered the time he was sprinting across the open and I had to lead him by 10 feet with my nagant lol

If you look through the countless sniper montages on youtube, for each long ranged moving target lea d is required, suggesting it isn't just me.

Most targets do not need any lead to take them out, but bullets do travel at a constant speed and if a targets running across the back of a map like countdown, lead is required. Therefore I ask this question.

I think snipers do have a bullet flight time, but I certainly hope other guns don't. Hard to tell at close range.

What I've imagined is that all the bullet flight times for every weapon are the same. It's just not noticeable with others, although when I use G3's and M14's on hardcore (as snipers basically) lead is also required.
