Well, it is a coincidence because the matchmaking system works like this:

Anyone plays with anyone. When a new map is not skipped and the game starts, all those without the new pack automatically get quit out.

I know this because my friend, who doesn't have the map pack, always gets quit out when a new map is played.

EDIT: And the reason you haven't seen as many people below rank 30 is because less people are beginning CoD4 now (since it has been out for a year).
No, if you don't have the map pack you never see the new maps. Well on ps3 anyways.

Yeah I've never seen them either, but perhaps that's because without the map pack data it doesn't have the image files to display the 'map preview' that appears in the matchmaking screen, so instead it simply kicks you out without notice?

I really don't know though, so.

However upon uninstalling the mappack today (as I don't like creek) I found myself in constant games with lower ranked players

So I was wondering if this was just a coincidence? Or if uninstalling the map pack really does essentially reduce cod4's online difficulty. Every game I seemed to be getting 5:1-15:1 kdr's lol

You did that because you don't like a map?

No wonder you're so amazing if you don't play anything you don't go 5:1 in.

You're post isn't relevant to the topic whatsoever. Regardless I will address it;

It is most definitely relevant to the topic because you brought it up in your first post.

I did not uninstall the map pack permanently (why waste what I payed for) it's a 450mb file so I can DL it again instantly without charge. And I never suggested in any way that I do not play the maps that I don't do well on, I just dislike creek for reasons I do not need to explain.

There are maps that I dislike too, but I just vote to skip them.  If they do not get voted out, then I play them anyway.  Playing a map that you dislike, or that you are bad at (probably the reason that you dislike it) will increase the chances that you will improve at it.  If you are bad at a particular map, then maybe you should try a different weapon or playing style on that map.  Sniping is very prevalent on Creek and maybe that is the reason that you dislike it.  I find that using a ghost class on that map can work quite well.  The sniping team would have to work very well as a team in order to prevent themselves from being killed repeatedly by a ghost.  If you want to try it out, I would suggest using the class below.

MP5 silenced (so you don't show up on the map)
M9 silenced (shares ammo with the MP5 so you have more bullets for the MP5)
Smoke (to obstruct the sniper's view of course)
Bomb Squad (to see their claymores)
UAV Jammer (so you don't show up on the map)
Extreme Conditioning (to get there faster)

I think that I will make a guide about it.

I also did not state that I was 'amazing' I stated that after uninstalling the map pack my KDR seems to have increased phenomenally against what it was beforehand. I also stated that it was either coincidence or the fact that the players I was facing were much lesser than before I uninstalled the pack.

Congratulations on having your K/D ratio go up.  That is always a good thing.

You can relate neither coincidence or the uninstallation of the pack to player skill so really I have no clue what the hell you're on about. Appreciated if you don't attempt to degrade one of my threads again.

The whole point of a forum is to get many different opinions.  If you cannot take anybody posting anything that is contrary to what you say, then maybe you should not post.  That way you would never read anything that was directed at you, that was of differing opinion.  Many people on this site are much better at the game than I am, but there are not near as many (smooveluv being one of them, and he far exceeds me in this department) that are as articulate or vocal as I am.  Your last statement ("don't attempt to degrade one of my threads again.") is the part that I have the biggest problem with.  You have been on the site long enough to know that there are people that will contradict opinions if given reason.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is given the opportunity to share it with others, provided that they do not break any rules while doing so.  For you to tell someone not to post anything that questions why you said something, is just plain wrong.

For the record, I like the map pack.  Broadcast is a very well balanced map.  Creek is a good sniping map for those that snipe, and it may be a little one sided, but it does not guarantee victory for the team that starts out on the high ground.  Chinatown is good for campers but it has many different routes to get everywhere (it is kind of like Ambush, but with roofs on all of the buildings).  I have no opinion of Killhouse, since I have not played it other than a couple private matches.

Well it would seem illiteracy is contagious.

If one had read my opening post one would realize that the topic of this thread was 'reducing online difficulty' upon reading my post one would also realize that the mention of creek was bracketed this was simply to avoid questioning as to why I had uninstalling the map pack in the first place, as this also was not the point of this topic.

I am fine with those who differ from my opinion, however I am not fine with those who try to drag ones topic into the gutters of mindless banter. The means I used to address his post were polite, and in no way derogatory. In your post you also go on, as he did to explain creek, which as I have already mentioned was clearly not the intention of this thread.

Plus, I fully understand how to play the map creek, I simply dislike it, I did not say I was bad at it, I actually stated that I wouldn't explain. So why on earth you have gone to explain how to play the map is beyond me.

And I don't feel I can end this post without addressing your closing comments.

"The whole point of a forum is to get many different opinions.  If you cannot take anybody posting anything that is contrary to what you say, then maybe you should not post.  That way you would never read anything that was directed at you, that was of differing opinion. "

Once again I will state that I have absolutely no problem with ones opinion differentiating from my own, however what I do have a problem with is when posts do not contribute or degrade a topic. I am very accustomed to the nature of forums, and CoD4 forums specifically as this was one of the last CoD4 community boards I found myself on however my overall online post count runs into at least over 80k (relevance of this information relates sentences begging).

As for the user you appear to have stepped in to defend, his original post simply retorted secondary information from my opening post, which had no relevance to the topic. I really do loath having to repeat myself.

Your saying "don't attempt to degrade one of my threads again" is not the most tactful way of getting your point across.  If you had a problem with munkiface's post not being quite on topic for your tastes, then you should have said it differently.  The way you did it is making you look like a rude, obnoxious jerk, who thinks that he owns the place.  Saying that "it would seem illiteracy is contagious" shows it even further.  I would suggest a different approach that would show you in a different light.  I have read your guides and can tell that you are an intelligent individual, but you need to learn to not be so blunt.

Sugar coat it and it will go over much better.

The means I used to address his post were polite, and in no way derogatory.

Yes they were.

They were rude and showed outrageous arrogance and presumption. Your frankly ludicrous assertions of "illiteracy" in response to an articulate and thoughtful response do little to assuage an obvious streak of petulance.

Young man, I am sorry I offended you, and I mean that sincerely. I would hope that I could make a cheeky reply to what, if we're honest, was a somewhat contentious assumption that poorer players were somehow segregated depending on their willingness to play the extra maps (which, lets not forget, includes you) without stimulating such a hissy fit.

As an adult, I am happy for you to address my comments in any way you see fit, including the way you did, disappointing as it was. I hope you can learn to extend the same courtesy to me.

Thank you.
