So, lately more than previously... it's come to my attention that the majority on CoD4 appear to be the victims of second cousin marriages.

Today I was playing on showdown going up one of the staircases on the inner area and I took a hit from LMG fire so I instantly went prone (teammates behind me prevented me from backtracking)

Instantly I was getting bombarded with insults for 'blocking the staircase', I explained why I wasn't going up, yet the continued to insult... so I responeded 'fine you can go up the f***ing stairs, and went  to crouched and backed into the corner. 3 of my teammates pilled up the stairs (I believe they may have been a clan) and they were ALL instantly gunned down, primarily because they stood in a line...

At that point they stfu.

But seriously what the hell is wrong with people? I don't understand how so many 'highly ranked' people manage bad KDR's, many of which doing so game after game. It's beyond my compression as to why these people even bother with competitive gaming.

Most TDM games seem consistent of 2 players who do well, and 4-6 others who hinder the team. In objective based games they won't even go near the bomb/objective. Or if they do there simply attempting constant 'scout rushes' and consistently dying. Theres also those that complain if you plant a bomb?...

Oh, not to mention those who simply end game right before the end (tends to happen 50% of the time on sabotage) so the game results in a draw...

Regardless, It's really pissing me off of late... the incident I described was pretty funny though, anyone else had similar experience(s) ?

Yes, especially when it comes to people that on my team that are in a clan together. What happened was that we were playing team deathmatch on crash, and for some reason everyone on the opposing team left except for one person. Well the 5 people in a clan on my team decide to plant like 10 claymores and all lay prone on the 3 story building. So while I'm out looking for the one guy left, suddenly on the bottom left corner of my screen i see 5 teammates die from a grenade. The next I know there's an enemy airstrike and chopper on the way. Lol. It was pretty funny afterwards because that one guy gave them so much crap about it!  Grin Grin lol that was the best game ever.

Something that annoys me are the people who are shouting and swearing at their teammates about how badly they play, and then you look on the score sheet for that match, and they are last. That, and people who think that just because they are highly ranked it makes them better than me.

I don't make a habit of remembering the names of random-ass noobs I'm afraid.

I was playing with a clan at sabotage earlier today, instead of actually doing anything objective related they decided that they'd grab the bomb, take it to a the top of the main house with 3-4 other of there teammates, and camp there whilst another of there team sits around at the enemy spawn... spawn-killing. (with a M16 ¬¬)

These guys were 10th prest too... one would think they would have more respect for CoD4 and it's players than to pull s**t like that. :/

Lots of my teammates are very rude to me as well. On HQ I was not going into the building first because the enemies had the entrances scoped out. So if I entered I would die. I had already used my frag and stun grenade. Everyone started shouting at me to go in first, and I told them to f*ck off and that they can go in first. Also, what you said about TDM is true. There is usually 2 players that do well and the rest are horrible.

I wrote off team games a long time ago. Until I get some competent teammates I can play with regularly, it isn't worth the headache. There can be some good matches, but you have to slog through a lot of crap to get to them.

Since I've played about 95% of the game in FFA, that's probably why I'm so good at it. Tongue

This is the truth. Is it the matchmaking system, or just some strange statistical magic? It doesn't matter. The ones that camp instead of doing the objective are probably just score grinding; I got chewed out once for rushing the enemy in sabotage and winning the match in like 30 seconds once. Then again, you think the game would reward you for it...

I find team games are alright if you've got atleast 1 other person willing to co-operate, 2 co-ordinated team members + 6 mindless drones > 8 mindless drones since the 6 drones can be used as decoys and whatnot while you get on with the objective. Often I find it's a rank 5-30 guy who saves my ass and actually helps me defend a bomb I've planted, rather than the rest of my semi-highly ranked team... but yeah team games aren't all that bad... sometimes.

I complain about this yet I guess the only solution would be to make the matchmaking like Halo's... which I really despise... so...

There's so many good players online. It just so happens that they never get put on the same team. There's usually 2 good players on every team and the enemy team as well. I'm not sure why the 4 good players are not on the same team. I guess the only time you can be guaranteed to have good players on your team would be to have a good clan on your team. I ended up with a great clan on my team playing TDM on Vacant, and we were at 120 points in about one minute, all because of the clan.

It wouldn't be so bad if the team balancing was more effective and more frequent. I don't know about you but, for me...why the hell are the three top scorers being rebalanced onto the same team?! They're not even in a party!

I just leave the lobby when that shit happens. I'm not dealing with it.

I don't mean to stand on a soap box but really you guys have it made in COD4.  There are hardly any trash talkers at all in comparison to games like counter-strike where people insult each other like there's no tomorrow.  I think in CS it's worse since teammates are so necessary to winning a round (no respawning, for example).  As I've read in COD4 guides, teammates in COD4 are so much less necessary to victory, partly since they mostly serve to blow your cover when you're trying to be stealthy or only serve as bullet/airstrike magnets.

I wrote off team games a long time ago. Until I get some competent teammates I can play with regularly, it isn't worth the headache. There can be some good matches, but you have to slog through a lot of crap to get to them.

I'm exactly the same way.  It's so easy to randomly die, be it from someone prone in a corner 3 feet behind where they spawned or someone hiding in a bush waiting 5 minutes for someone to walk by, or a random bullet through a wall or a rogue RPG or m203 round.  I got tired of waiting for  a teammate to help complete the objectives, even the level 55 ones are cowards half the time, so i mainly play FFA now.  I blame lack of communication... many servers restrict mic chat, and there's no quick radio commands (present in games like UT, Enemy Territory, counter-strike, RTCW, etc).  Since players spawn at almost random places on the map, there really isn't time to hide and take the time to type a message.  COD4 was not made for teamwork.

COD4 was not made for teamwork.
I tend to play on XBL, but I have experience with UT2004. The phenomenon rests not in the game, but in the players. They might not be able to communicate. And yet, would it be better if they could? The random people you get stuck with, from my experience, are more interested in talking about everything other than the game, to the detriment of everyone else on their team. It's actually worse in COD4, since dying gives the enemy those bonuses. I guess I just like to have more control over winning and losing, and FFA is about as close to that as I can get (besides cage match, which sucks).

One thing I use as a kind of primitive communication system is special grenades. Basically a "look over there!" command.

Counterstrike has a reputation now, and I'm glad it's there, it means that there's less of "those people" in other games. Tongue

My favorite is right after you respawn and you might be catching your breathe or picking your nose, whatever or you might be blocking a doorway and your "teammate" yells "Get the f*&* out of the way."  Yeah whatever, I turn around and shoot them in the face.
