I've got myself a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse and up until now have not used the buttons on it to play COD.
I've used it before with another online FPS game and found the only way to get it to work was disable the User Account Control. So I did this for COD, programmed the buttons and started the game. The game has now decided that the profile I've been using does not exist. I've copied my backed up profile into the designated folder and restarted the game but it still doesn't recognise it's there. When I turn the UAC back on the game recognises it and there's no problem except I can't use the mouse buttons!?!
Anyone else had this problem and knows of an easy solution to it?

I'd help you with your issue but I don't own that mouse as of yet, is it a good gaming mouse for CoD4? does it have multiple functions like gaming and everyday computing?

Microsoft flat out lied on their description. "first mouse with LED display"? Yeah right...

Anyway, are you using the software that came with it? If you've just gone with plug-in and play, it might not be detected by some games or something, you'll only get the basic functions.

Also if it's very, very new. There might not be support for some games. Similarly, if it's very, very old it might not be compatible?

It was a problem with the Intellipoint software I was using. I reinstalled it and now it's working fine.
Thanks for the help though, sometimes a reinstall is all it needs eh?  LOL
