In celebration of Call of Duty 4 retaking the #1 spot on Xbox Live, Infinity Ward's Director of Communications and Community Manager Robert Bowling announced that starting that this Friday, PS3 and Xbox 360 users will be playing for double XP all weekend.
Bowling wrote:
"Thank you to everyone who consistently continues to play the game every night! To show our appreciation, as always we’re going to be holding a Double XP Weekend this weekend starting Friday morning and going till Monday. The Double XP will be available in all playlists and will be on both Xbox 360 and PS3," he continued.
"In addition, we will be tweaking all the playlist map rotations a bit so that the Variety Map Pack no longer shows up 2:1 to old maps. Therefore all maps (old and new) have an equal chance to come up in map rotation, so you won’t be seeing Chinatown pop up 8,000 times or any other new map over and over again."
The perfect chance for all you Prestige-a-holics to make twice the ground on your quest for that illusive Gold Cross!
In more news Activision has announced the shooter has now reached the 10 Million sales mark since its launch back in November.
Activision's Vince Zampella also revealed the Variety Map pack has sold 1.5 Million copies on the consoles since its release in April.
Nothing unexpected, but those are some mighty big numbers!

This is an easy way to boost your xp if you can get a party of 12 together hardcore domination. Noone fires a shot but gathers round 1 flag 1 team captures moves out of the way the other team captures the teams keep capturing and recapturing in turn till the score limit is reached average xp from a game like this 800 as long as noone fires a shot :-) My xp tip of the week :-)
