You can see the slight differences that are all over the guns

In SP m16 should be used, m4 is just better in single player mostly because SP version has too much recoil

-CORRECTION-

The enemy's G3s' are fully automatic.

The marines have semi automatic G3's.

The Marines don't use G3's  Huh?

but I juz wanna know, is there a difference between the M16 and M4 in REALITY?? I mean all i heard about is the M4 this and M4 that...
well the m4 is a advantage over the m16 a little but the m16 is powerful and the m4 is accurate shots so i would say the m4 but then again the m16 so i like them both

The Grenade launcher on the M4 Carbine is _nothing_ compared to the Nade launcher on the M16. Put infinite ammo on, then try it. You'll see what I mean

If you don't want to, let me put it this way.

If the M4 fires grenades every second, then the M16 fires every 1/4 second

If you haven't tried the M14 with a silencer...i'm disappointed.

I say the glass is twice as big as it needs to be
One of my friends said the glass is poisoned
My other friend said just to drink the damn thing already

MP44 Iron sights are...unusual, to say the least.

Differences between the M4 and the M16 (in game versions M4A1, M16A4)

Fire selection- all the models of both guns have a single shot ability, but after that: Full auto; M4A1, M16A2-3 round burst; M16, M16A1, M16A3, M16A4, M4

All M4 variants have a shorter barrels than any M16 variant, meaning the M16's have more range and more accuracy, at the sake of size

Both M4's have a 4 length adjustable stock, and all M16's have nonadjustable stocks

To clear up confusion. Some of the differences between the two weapons since some people were asking and others were making stuff up.

The M4 is shorter and lighter than the M16. And 80% of the weapons components are the same. In relality they both have fully automatic, semi automatic and fully automatic capabilities. They both use the same cartridge but the M16 has a slightly higher average RPM.

The firing mechanism and caliber rounds on both riffles are the same. So I assume considering everything in terms of power they are pretty much the same.

The M16 on CoD4 multiplayer was 'nerfed' as it would be overpowered. The statistics of CoD4 weapons rarely represent that of there real-life counterparts.

Spot on. Although I think some models were restricted to burst/single fire only. To increase accuracy of marines, and conserve ammunition.

If memory serves me correctly the burst only M16 was used initially during the Vietnam war as troops were fully-automatic blind firing. ¬¬ Don't quote me on that though, it may be that the only statement there that is true is that the M16 was used in Vietnam.

No, the only way you could fire in burst and full auto with M4 or M16 variants is to switch weapons

The first two sentences are correct, but everything else is wrong, look at my list of weapons of the M4 or M16 variety with firing options (@ bottom). The M16 has a slightly higher muzzle velocity than the M4 thanks to the longer barrel, and the multiplayer M16A4 is completely accurate in regard to its real life counterpart

Fire selection- all the models of both guns have a single shot ability, but after that: Full auto; M4A1, M16A2-3 round burst; M16, M16A1, M16A3, M16A4, M4
