those sticky topic things sure are expenive. i know i should look in the help center, but what do they do, anyway? is it like reserving a spot?

They let you make your own topic a sticky, without being a Mod or Admin.

Although if someone creates a thread that doesn't deserve to be stickied, and stickies it with their own "sticky topic thing" then it will probably be un-stickied by one of us.
